Bedrock Ode To Lulu Rose Sonoma Valley

Mataro fun that conjures Bandol! Tropical fruits and flowers peek like a sassy petticoat out from under sleek stones, stone fruits and saucy red berries all with a lean bite. I love it.

Not sure why I waited so long to open my last '09. Opened yesterday and sampled over two days. Has lost a few steps along with its freshness. Still have a couple of '11s/'12s to get through.

Happy 4th. Ain't nothing better than an old vine rosé.

80° in March! Gotta make room for the '16s.

Right time, right place. I think the bottling (Lulu) is a nod to someone at Domaine Tempier. Very light pink hues, a tad fizzy on entry but that dissipates. Primary fruit is strawberry and perhaps watermelon. This isn't as solid as Matthiason, Bandol Domaine Tempier or Liquid Farm for me. I'd rank it with Arnot Roberts. Less weight, simple and fun.

Lovely nose, fresh strawberries, honey and stone fruit. A nice crisp finish. A favorite of mine.

Is this the best Cali rose? Yes, I dare say it is. Mourvèdre in the house!

Beautiful rose. Very pale. Explosively fruity: raspberry and watermelon rind with a hint of Lees. -yet crisp, light and fresh.
