Siduri’s 2016 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley) shows a deft blend of ripeness and energy, with intense dark fruit and floral qualities backed up by a peppery note that adds spicy lift. It’s delicious now but it will drink well and continue to improve over the next decade. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Dec 2017) $25

Berry compote, cherry licorice, and a peppery berry finish. Consistently good.

2016, warm cranberry compote and hint tea leaf. More acid would be nice but good buy nonetheless

Nice Pinot of the non-metallic variety. Very good for Oregon. Fruit forward but nicely balanced. Also smoother than most.

Cherries and cranberries on the nose. Very fruit forward taste with too little acid. Could use a bit more tannins. Drinks easily.

This is my second time trying Siduri. The first time was at a restaurant, and it was excellent. The second time was after buying a bottle from a grocery store, which is always circumspect since they don’t properly store their wines. That being said, I didn’t find the wine as remarkable as the first time I had it but still quite good. Make sure you store the wine properly and give it a good aerating before drinking. The nose has notes of black cherry, black currant, fig, and young oak. Its taste didn’t quite hold up to the nose. The wine has a light bouquet of plum, red cherry, butter, dried apricot, nutmeg, stone and tobacco. I highly recommend this wine, especially if you can get it for under $30 a bottle.
