Had this 2 years ago, tasted new batch. Fonseca founded in 1822, successive generations of Guimaraens family upheld the Company’s reputation. Bin No. 27 was created over a century ago for family consumption, & only released commercially in 1972. Sits in large wood cats for 4 years. Rich texture, ripe fruit flavors of blackberry & cherry, smooth, good balance on lingering finish ending with a sweet fruit character & some spicy notes. Consistent quality y/o/y. Can be consumed over a few weeks. Tasting Sample.

Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim. Sweet fruity nose of blackberries, black plums, sweet cherries, licorice, vanilla, wood, alcohol, spices, chocolates, mocha, sweet carmel, cloves and peppercorn. Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity and long legs. Sweet on the palate with blackberries, sweet plums, cherry pie, dried figs, tobacco, spices, wood, vanilla, cloves, dark coffee, chocolates, pencil lead and peppercorn. Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries. This port is always enjoyable. Not too complex but very tasty with nice balance. I paired it with brie cheese and fig jam. So yummy

This was pretty good; lifted nose of plum, boysenberry, blackberry, violets, baking spice, cinnamon and cacao powder. The wine has pleasant structure for a ruby and is a good wine for its style but hard to get excessively excited over.

Stewed dark fruit on the nose continue through to the palate. Sweet finish. Lacking the wow factor for me. Drink now or cellar for another 10 years.

Black cherries, currants, plums, subtle oak and sweetness that ends with a lip smacking drink-another-sip quality. A nice introduction to the category

Pretty good. Better than 6 grapes, but not totally memorable.

- Nose: smells like ethanol, plum and sweet. dried fruits and sour cherries, figs. Smells like holiday fruit cake. Spice, nutmeg, cherry. Little toffee - Taste: ginger, plums, licorice. Big kick of spice that tingles the mouth. Very alcohol heavy. Classic ruby port - Weight/texture: heavy, sticky
