Jeb Dunnuck refers to this wine as a ‘workhorse cuvée’, a testament to its reliability year in, year out. The 2016 was another successful vintage for every inch of the Rhône, which shows in this straightforward but amiable bottling by E. Guigal.

A tasty, go to, great value Rhone. I bought a case that has been serving us well throughout social isolation. Down to last couple!

For $ just great value. Not super complex but balanced and goes really well with food.

Agree with prior comments re amiable workhorse; wouldn’t confuse it with anything fancy but overall good wine at very accessible price

For less than $20 this is great. It takes a few to open up but the releases the fruit with good structure for a cotes du rhone. One worth stocking up on for everyday.

Juicy plum and red berry aromas and flavors. Bright notes of cola and baking spices. Just a hint of Forrest Floor on the silky finish. Very reasonable for such a mass produced wine.

Pretty good red wine. I get the earthy notes and some dark fruit and spices. Not as full-bodied as I typically like

The nose shows syrah usual traits : pepper, blackberry, there is even a bit of bacon in there! Definitely northern Rhone red. The palate is well balanced, there is a good acid drive in there, there is a bright fruit, some width, some matter, a good mouthfeel, lively tannins with a drying effect in mid palate and a long finish with fruit and pepper and that drying effect for quite a long time. I have been missing that wine for as long as we moved to Poland. I used to buy it from the grocery store downstairs back in Paris for 8 euro. I was so psyched to find it in the Wine shop downstairs here in Warsaw! As always, this is a solid CDR.
