Stewed red fruit, mocha, a little green pepper/ beany quality. Savory (the herb), and bay on the nose. Broad, muscular, but not over extracted, and with decent acid, if not bursting with energy. A fine claret- looking forward to another bottle in 5-10 years.

A ravishing wine. Concentrated black cherry fruit, with a tart baked quality rather than roasted, with mocha, followed by a medley of tertiary flavors; sous bois, animal hide, hot clay, and especially truffle. With extended air time, the animal aromatics are subdued and better integrated, and the fruit becomes seemingly fresher, and unlit tobacco on the finish. Velvety tannins and salubrious acidity. Throws a good bit of sediment.

For the money, this is top notch but I can't give it 4 of 4 on an absolute basis. Good fruit, classic Pessac, nice finish (but not great). Perfectly nice for most purposes.

Dec 16, 2020. W/Caitlin. Gave her a bottle of this for her northday last year, this is my first taste. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot. A lovely Pessac-Leognan and perfect example of why it love wines from this Bordeaux region. Black fruit, fig, truffle on the nose with earth, leather, truffle, and a hint of mint in palate. Smooth, silky tannins. So good!

Sage and tobacco on the nose. A soft tannic kiss on the front of the tongue. Other than the tannins, there’s no fruit on the front. But I get a hint of underripe blackberries and nettles on the top of the palate, The light and soft tannic structure is revealed again at the finish—and it gives this wine a softer mouth feel which offsets the astringency of the mid palate flavors. This is a mediocre bordeaux, but it is drinkable if you let it open up. My problem is that I feel like I overpaid for a ordinary Bordeaux. Honestly I can go down to the local Safeway and pick up a $20 claret that is as good as this $60 bottle.

Celebrated the Tiger Masters wine and opening night of game of thrones. On the nose I thought this might be overpowering, but on the palate this was elegant and had a lot of finesse. Violets, currant, and graphite. Drinking really well right now.

Developing very well. More black fruits showing now. Black cherry, plum, vanilla, and cigar box. Very good. This has a long life ahead of it so no rush to drink.
