The white wines from LdH are rarely boring and this example of the 2009 Gravonia is no exception. It’s always fun to see casual wine drinkers reactions. Most can’t tell if they love them or hate them. 100% Viura, this bottle poured a deep golden color. Notes of ripe melon, funky cheese, roasted nuts and damp basement on the nose. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with a somewhat waxy texture. Notes of melon, lemon, ginger gummies and nuts. Lovely acid. Finish is long. A wine with real character and substance. A wine that makes you think.

Splendid savory saltiness. Almond paste nose. Only a little concentration and roasted complexity between this and the Tondonia Blanco.

Hay, mushrooms, carmelized lemon. Oxidized and nutty, with such an impressive finish, like a buttered biscuit. Goes on forever. Slightly thin midpalate, only in comparison to the finish. Otherwise beautiful. With time, a floral aroma joins in, with citrus blossom and dried apricot.

Gorgeous, rich, distinguished / BIG OXIDATION / honeyed, nutty, with a punctuated brininess on the finish. STUNNER, especially at this value

Rich gold in colour & nicely evolved. Waxy yet fresh, hints of (over)ripe yellow plums, a bit of bruised apple, quite sweet on the nose, fresh nuts, a whiff of rancio. On the palate this is vivid, with great energy & precision, rich yet so fresh, juicy,. So complex yet so drinkable. Great depth. Amazing. A wine for meditation. But I’ll have it with charcoal grilled turbot ;)

Love this stuff. Rich brown butter toasted almond with some petrol on the nose + meyer lemon, stone fruit, brine. Oatmeal! Layers of acidic stone fruit and sweet pears, nice minerality on top of a toasty creme brûlée. Long finish ugh so good.
