Popped and poured from a 1.5L; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. This was singing from the first glass to the last. The 2015 “Cuvée Marcel Lapierre” pours a deep, hazy ruby/purple with a near opaque core. Medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the aromatics are off the hook. Still developing with beautiful red and dark fruits: pomegranate, cherry, strawberry, blackberries, herbs, mixed flowers and just a whiff of pastureland. Just lovely stuff. I could just smell my glass all evening and it might just be enough. Alas, I did drink. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium(+?) tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish was long and satisfying. Mathieu and Camille did an excellent job managing the solar nature of the vintage with this bottle. The vineyard source probably didn’t hurt: Cuvée Marcel Lapierre is a blend of fruit from ancient vines in Côte du Py and “Le Douby”. This paired really well with traditional holiday ham balls. Already drinking well now but sure to age effortlessly over the next 10-15 years.

I’m not a major natural wine guy. Some I like, some I don’t. These, however, I positively adore. Stunning purity of cherry fruit inflected with fresh herbs and sour cherries and dried flowers on the finish. Electric acidity and faint dusty tannins. Outstanding. Wish I had a few more bottles. Did you know that my iPhone auto-corrects “gamay” to “fanatic?” Ain’t that just perfect?

Leaning in the Brett direction. Nice minerality.

This is diving out of a plane good. An epic rush of ultra focused blood orange, lavender pastille and excruciatingly intense black cherry, with a mineral driven undertow that pulls you under. The concentration is insane for a wine that’s loaded with acidity and is as balanced as they come. This is change your palate good.

I've loved this wine in the past and have a strong affinity for the producer, but this bottle is virtually undrinkable. Loads of horsey and mousey notes, VA and RS. Stuck ferment? This is my first disappointing Lapierre, so I'll gladly try again.

Delicious but needs Time to get the depth that will develop.
