Pronounced aromas of red fruits and spice. There’s a sort of pomegranate and mustiness to the wine. A little bit mousey. There are obviously aromas of the whole cluster fermentation. I like it. It is balanced, juicy and crunchy. #galicia #mencia blend #spain

Pretty pumped to find some Envinate wines at a little wine shop in the heart of Seattle. Grabbed this guy to see what all the hubbub about Ribeira Sacra is all about - and it did not disappoint. 85% Mencia with a field blend of local varieties rounding it out. Gorgeous alluring nose of fresh market black cherries, cherry candy, violet, and a bit of musky earth. Beautiful crunchy red fruit and textured cinnamon/clove spice plus a bit of graphitey (we’re gunna pretend that’s a word) minerality. Beautiful wine, and again, very gluggable. Wish I had more of this.

One of those wines that you sip, taste, feel... And immediately go "Wow, this is a great wine!" Fleshy, with bright cherry singing a pure solo backed by a chorus of savory spices, wonderfully palatable acid, and pleasantly light tannins. The finish defies expectation by lingering longer than many wines much heavier, but also with a much happier expression of flavors. Drink this and smile!

Lousas from Envinate, vinas de aldea CV (Cuvée Viticole). Color: Dark ruby to pale garnet around the rim. Nose: red fruit and pepper, blackberry fruit, hot spices (cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper). Kind of a hearty nose, like the smell of spices from a hearty chili. ... I have not had many mencia before, so can’t really present a fair comparison. This is how I compartmentalize this wine: It has the structure of a well-made Burgundy minus the telltale leather flavors of a pinot noir. Other than that, the earthiness and the tannins and the length are simply majestic like the best of burgundy... but which Burgundy? I can’t tell, @brianmcclinticms, any thoughts? ... @viticolewine great collaboration with Envinate, keep ‘em coming. Migan (La Habanera) was out of this world, and this one keeps growing on me!
