Just a few wines we will be having on our cruise this week. First wine of the cruise at 150 Central Park. Decanted for around two hours. Mix of dark ruby and garnet red. Dark nose with graphite, crushed purple flowers, and bark. Sitting in the glass for an hour more it started opening up with dark berries and dark gravel. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) with a full body. Layered palate with some secondary notes of forest floor, mushrooms, red berries and cassis. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2029.

Sweet cheese and rice! Every once and a while, when playing golf, you have that one shot that makes you come back which makes up for all the other bad shots. This wine is like that - found 2 bottles in the back of some suburban wine store hidden with an orange half price sticker - opens big but then smooths out - barnyard and hay on the nose, smooth pallet, tannins but not too much, dark cherry and a hint of Anise.

Guest offered this to me today, a 2006 vintage. Really nice nose, a little leather but a lot of red fruit. The palate followed nicely and the tannins were well integrated. Could probably last another 5-10 years but after that it'd start to decline.

Total score while at Beringer. Half bottles of 2006 PR for $33! Yep. Besides the price, the wine has to be one of the more noble bottlings of the decade for my palate. Super pure in the expression of Cabernet Sauvignon; Blackberry, tobacco, touch of coffee; ALL of the cliches descriptors without being boring. I still drink coffee everyday and I would welcome this wine into my home as frequently. Full bodied but BALANCED all the way through. The front palate is a solid intro, the acid was the surprise component that links the finish to the front beautifully. Nice job

Surprising. Very big and unlike experience with older vintages. Maybe another 8-10 would bring it to a more (personally) appealing place. Maybe a stylistic change. Solid, but not my thing.

This wine kicked butt with massive bright fruits and tasted young despite the 15 years in it. Awesome aged cab

This was just a really good Napa cab. Mountain and valley flavors merge wonderfully! A perfect wine with prime rib on Christmas!

So surprised, it has young structure, notes of cinnamon and currents and yet retained its Napa earthy smell on the nose. Still could have waited to open. Has warm feel of coffee and berry. 2004. Not sure of that showed up
