Gros Ventre Cellars Campbell Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

9.32 ratings on Delectable
$56

This site is 5 miles from the ocean, perched at 750 feet in elevation, just about as far north and west as you can get and still be in Sonoma County. This vineyard is cool, foggy, windy, woodsy and wild...just how we like it. The 2014 Campbell Ranch is loaded with intense red fruit aromatics of fresh raspberry, dark cherry, and strawberry preserves coupled with subtle aromas of wintergreen, sea spray and underbrush. The palate is broad, lively, and lingering. Production: 154 Cases Élevage: 11 months in 17% New French oak Clones: 115 & 777 Filtration: Unfined & Unfiltered Alcohol: 13.7%

If you've ever met owners @Sarah Mason Pittenger and @Chris Pittenger it will make perfect sense why their Pinot's are so spirited and joyful. As sommelier @Steven Morgan aptly puts, the Campbell Ranch is "structured and opulent," full of depth, liveliness and bearing the tell-tale bright red fruit, roasted beet and forestal notes that have put Anderson Valley Pinot Noir on the map.
