Tasted this about 2 years ago, a new batch, some lots underwent malolactic conversion enhancing flavor & weight. 40/40/20 blend, Pinot Meunier-20%. Founded in 1776, Reims France, rare family owned company, still managed by Roederer family. In 1833, Louis Roederer inherited company his uncle & renamed company under his namesake. Pale lemon, Fresh fruit aromas, nice mousse, rapid bubbles, citrus & toasty apple flavors, crisp & refreshing, long finish ending with lemon, smoke & yeasty mineral notes. Nice!

Today was an absolutely fantastic Friday hosting at the City Club by @Dan Fitzgerald . 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine. Served blind. Great job Dan! What made this special was the fact that the host had kept this in his cellar for almost 10 years. Very different compared to release...less citrus driven. Balances oxidative and reductive. Hardly any bubbles. Toasty, flint and nougat driven, but also honeyed and slightly caramelized.

Coming after the Charles Heidseick NV, with a 2008 Base wine, Disgorged in 2015, & 40% Reserve wines with an average age of 10’years, this was nothing more than simple.

This is slightly Pinot noir dominated. It is slightly tart yet also creamier. And toasty. It was like drinking a savory trifle. I’m not sure if that sounds appetizing but trust me, it worked!
