Power, structure and full body with a nose of coffee, tobacco, violet and black currant. Blackberry, cassis and firm tannins on the palate with a lengthy finish

Full bottle which was re-corked after the tasting 8 days ago. This has barely moved since I tried to save it. Coffee and black cherries on the nose. Soft round tannins coupled with blue fruits and a hint of nutmeg represent the classic Mouton profile.

Opened well before it's hit it's stride. Sandalwood and rich dark fruits dominate . On the palette, the tannins are not resolved. Superb flavors of blackberries, blueberries and jam compote float on an ethereal platform. Nice finish which finishes sweet. Leave this for another 5 years... Joe Lucca (in pic) cradling what is one of the babies of the evening.

This is a young wine that still needs more time to integrate its components. Red fruits, tobacco, saddle leather, and sweet spice are present, but needing time to pull together the oak influence and finely grained tannins.

Stunning, opened up nicely over the course of several hours! It is truly unfortunate that we don't often get to taste some of the best! Tobacco, dried cherries, leather, violets.

Austere, severe and straight forward, it's serious Mouton. The nose is quite intense, I smell camphor and mint tea. Tannins are tight, rather austere. I'd say it's a "mechanical" Mouton although I sense it's the bottle. Last time I had it, it was way more opulent.

Love the nose on this, has some great charred spice and dark chocolate along with black cherry ganache though dominates any pure fruit character. In the mouth there is a clear oak influence on the drying tannins, fruit that comes through on the backend is thick and dark, quite a brute this one. Very drying on the finish.
