Tasted blind. Deep amber tawny color with a powerful nose. Exotic. Notes of red cherries, old cedar desk, plum, mint/menthol, cinnamon, and a little molasses. Tannins fully resolved, leaving silky juice that got better and better over the evening. At first this seemed like it was a bit past its prime, but with a ton of air over the day/night, this powered up and reminded us it's one of the best bottles of grape juice ever made. Ethereal is perhaps the best word to describe the experience. Thanks Murray!

This bottle of 1945 Mouton-Rothschild is my fourth encounter and actually showed better than one poured three months earlier that came directly from the château. Ethereal as always on the nose, that distinctive menthol scent is present and correct, and this bottle is perhaps more elegant and almost Burgundian in style. The palate has heavenly balance, quite opulent and velvety, with morello cherry, raspberry preserve, orange pith and a delicate touch of cedar on the never-ending finish. Monumental. Tasted at Koala's 1945 dinner. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2020)

Tasted blind. Dark tawny color, almost opaque. Slight oxidated nose with notes of cranberries, menthol, mint, camphor, and some brown sugar. Rich with crazy texture in the mouth. Medicinal and makes the face flush. Over the night this evolved and improved with more air. I think the last bottle of this we had was slightly better than this one. Still, an all time type of experience when you are able to sip this. V for Victory!

Tasted blind. From a bottle that I’m told had a top shoulder fill. Reddish tawny color, translucent but with intensity. Port-like nose with notes of black cherries, plum, tan spices, molasses/brown sugar and some cranberry. Earthy and ethereal in the mouth. Intensively rich. Finish lasts forever. Guessed 47 Cheval Blanc. I’ve been fortunate to have this wine a few times now. It’s a freak of nature, which is very evident when sitting next to its 49 sibling. A top all time bottle for sure.

Tasted blind. Ruby color. Almost opaque. Young fruit forward nose. Notes of plums, mocha, dark chocolate, coffee, cinnamon and some exotic thing like eucalyptus. So rich and vibrant in the mouth. A forever finish. This wine took us in all directions. Immortal. Stan's 60th will always be remembered for the 45 Latour vs 45 Mouton mano y mano battle. A wine life moment for sure.

Tawny red, almost opaque. Bright nose with notes of coffee, herbs, bright core of fruit. Very luscious, rich and smooth in the mouth. Had something funky/off in the nose at first but that blew off after 7 hrs of air. This got bigger and bigger over time. Had this amazing perfume by the end. So very silky. Side by side against the 47 Cheval Blanc, this broke away in the stretch to win by a neck.
