The 2014 d'Yquem has a complex bouquet with buttered toast, almond, honey and peach skin aromas. It opens with greater zeal than its peers, there is more immediacy here. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, a finely tuned and satisfying Sauternes with style and grace, evincing great tension and mineral drive towards the finish. Superb. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2018)

Tasted blind. Dark gold color. Notes of burnt oranges, apricot and strong tan spice. Very perfumed... wakes you up with it's power in the nose. Massive fruit and acidity in the mouth. Some petrol and spice notes evolve. Guessed 59 d'Yquem, and while 61 wasn't known for being a great vintage for Sauternes, this bottle tonight was right up there with some of the best old d'Yquems we've had. Great finish to an epic evening! (M's 60th bday 14th of 14)

This is a fabulous sweet wine from Bordeaux. Dark Golden in color. Beautiful sweet nose of honey, yellow apples, apricots, honeysuckle, lemons, caramel, spices and white pepper. Full bodied and bold, with high acidity. Sweet on the palate with honey, citrus, tropical fruits, spices, lemons and brown sugar. Long, long finish with citrus and limes. This 8 year old still feels very young and concentrated. Nicely balanced with lots of acidity to balance the sugars. Tangy and interesting with a heavy mouthfeel. Rich, yet elegant. Sweet and powerful. Creamy and bold. A delicious experience. Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. A great vintage that shows its power. Already showing great complexity, but will age nicely in the next 50 years. Decadent and delicious. A fabulous dessert wine. 13.5% alcohol by volume. 97 points. $250 (375ml).

A gorgeous Yquem. So balanced with amazing freshness and acid to its decedent, honeyed and floral layers. Still young of course, but already a stunner.
