Sweet spices, roses and dusty stone give way to rubbed sage and rosemary as the 2016 Brunello di Montalcino slowly evolves in the glass. This is pure elegance, silky-smooth and supple with a mineral tinge that adds a lovely depth to its black cherry fruit as brisk acidity adds a lovely tension. Saline minerals cascade throughout as a tinge of orange mingles with gritty tannins, and liquid stone notes linger through the long and staining finale. (Eric Guido, Vinous, December 2023)

Just beautiful. Absolutely killer with our wagyu beef and black trumpet linguini.

Superb Brunello. Lots of ripe cherry with a wisp of chocolate. Sipping slowly to have with Gnocchi.

This is a medium ruby wine with developing notes of blackberry compote, blueberry, violet, nutmeg, clove, tobacco, cedar, leather, and wet earth. On the palate this wine is dry, with medium acidity, a medium(+) body, high alcohol (14%), medium(+) tannins, and medium intensity of flavors consistent with the nose. The finish is medium(+). Cheers to this delish Brunello!!

Unfortunately it was a bit corked, easily seen and smelled on the cork. Those comments aside… dark cherry is abundant, with cedar lingering. Peeper characteristics are really faint as you roll the wine, but I chalk this up to the corking. I’ll try again. Hoping the tannin/dryness gets better.

2016: Well-made but drinking very young, with firm tannins only partly giving way to sour cherry fruit and minerals. Suckling gave this a 99 (!); I’m not sure there is the richness or body to warrant that but will be plenty of time to find out. $55+.
