Melville Estate Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2013

9.054 ratings on Delectable
$29.99

The great wine writer, Jancis Robinson (MW), says from over in England that this is one of her favorite Santa Rita Hills pinots of the more than 120 she tasted for a recent piece. It’s obvious why this wine would make an impression half way across the world: it’s delicious! From a family farm some very cool sites, this has all the California fruit you expect in a Pinot, with a balance and magical purity that you don’t find often enough in any wine!

Bright tart and just awesome Pinot. 40% whole stem fermentation makes this Pinot a bit bigger and quite a bit better. This is a sure keeper!

Crowd pleaser. Not too complex but has enough to satisfy.

Good village-level Pinot - forward, ripe, red fruit with an appealingly tart edge, and some smoky complexity.

Quaffable party wine. Enjoyable but lacked depth, character, complexity. Tastes like supermarket wine that goes for much less $$ even though at $40 this is a mid-to-mid-low-range wine. I can't think of when I would ever want this as it's too expensive to bring to the party and not good enough for pairing with food.

Strawberry with accents of rose petals and cinnamon. The finish is long, peppery and memorable. Always fantastic, always reliable. And still one of the best values in Pinot you can find. One to always have on hand.

Great drinking wine. An enjoyable and complex fruit-forward pinot. Tasting notes of jam, figs, and cinnamon. Ruby colored with a lingering finish that I enjoyed more as I drank it
