Azienda Agricola Brovia Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

$51.99

Brovia's "normale" is hardly normal, as it includes the Cru wine that could not fit in the single vat designated to each Cru. A blend of several terroirs, which some say is how you get the truest expression of Barolo.

Brovia's 2013 Barolo is gorgeous. Deep, ample and beautifully layered in the glass, it possesses terrific expansiveness in every dimension. An exotic bouquet laced with hints of orange peel, cinnamon, pomegranate, kirsch and mint melds into a core of rich red stone fruit. This one of the best straight Barolos readers will come across. It is built on a core of fruit from the Brea Cru in Serralunga (the part outside the Ca' Mia parcel), with the addition of about 30% juice left over after the casks for the single-vineyard Barolos have been filled. The 2013 is one of the very finest values in high-end wine. Don't miss it. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2018)

Enjoyable now. A little lean but pairs great with food. Would love to try in 3 or 3 years. SS

Popped and poured...sooooo young but it’s already showing great potential. Fresh, bright red and dark fruit, roses and minerals. Classic Barolo. Surprisingly enjoyable to drink now but it’s pretty obvious that these will be at their best down the road a ways.

Super young but showing so well. Beautifully perfumed. I’m sure will reward a little patience if you can manage.

This is pretty great, but I feel like it’s got more to show in a few years. The oak is well integrated but will probably settle a bit more in a while, the fruit is mostly dried berries, good tannins and acidity.

Tart berry fruit, earth, lavender, the tannins and acid are in balance, and for a young barolo this is very drinkable
