Xoriguer Mahon Gin NV (1000ml)

$47.99

Distilled in wood-fueled copper pot stills from a base of local wine alcohol on the island of Menorca in the capital Mahon. Gin production in Menorca began 200 years ago when the island was owned by Britain and British sailors and soldiers stationed there craved the popular drink of their homeland. Local Mahon craftsmen began importing juniper from the nearby Mediterranean mountains and using other aromatic herbs to create a gin with a local identity. In the early 20th century, a family of craftsmen began the brand Xoriguer to market locally and eventually export the traditional gin of Mahon.

Wonderful. Where tanqueray comes from. If you 'real the type to have a few gins around, this has to be one of them. If you only keep one on hand for martinis or g&t's, this might be the one. Viscous and herbaceous with a little lemon zest and a bit of sea grass.
