Silvio Giamello Vicenziana Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2010

9.18 ratings on Delectable
$42.99

The Giamello property is tucked into a cooler corner of Barbaresco, and the Vicenziana shows this off to great effect. From vines over 40 years old, it is a wine of elegance rather than power, full of cherry, licorice, and spice. Above all, this is a wine of impeccable balance and exceptional ageability (think 2 or 3 decades). Perfect for a braised lamb shank or mushrooms sautéed with rosemary on toast with taleggio.

Beautiful Barbaresco, opened up after a couple hours with classic notes of leather, dried rose, light cooking spices, and sour cherry

Tried 2 bottles this weekend. Very light in color. Nose classic leather. But the wine itself tastes a little flat and is not that interesting? Did it see some heat upon shipping? I am a big fan of this producer but both of these 2010 bottles did disappoint. Not sure what happened here. It is not corked.
