"Stirn," is quite literally the "forehead," (the direct translation) of the Kupp. Located some 300 feet up at the top of the hill as it curves toward the valley. Up here it’s windy, it’s cooler and there is minimal top soil and just lots of rocky slate. These factors cause the vines to struggle more and the berries can be fewer, smaller, tougher. Stirn is always high-toned and energetic and packed with the mineral, zip and zing of cool Saar wines. Lots and lots of minearlity.
