Iago's Wine Chardakhi Chinuri 2010

$21.99

Iago Bitarishvili could be the definition of a small producer. His tiny home/winery produces ~1.3K bottles a year all of it now from the Chinuri variety. His Chinuri is vinified traditionally on it's skins in clay Qvevri. Apricots, saffron, almonds & oolong tea ride on the nose & on the lightly tannic palate. Explore the dishes of the Silk Road with this wine.

First orange wine... Full skin contact white wine... Very clean but has this cool tartness to it like a lemon citrus note. Its very different want to try something new go for this. #nyc #wine #orangewine #somethingnew

Iago's Wine. Chinuri, one of the 500+ Georgian grapes, fermented in a qvevri (amphora ) with skin contact. Iago Bitarishvili was a splendid host in Kartli, Georgia when I visited last March, and his clean savory wine is a delight. Great Georgian food @ Oda House in NYC.

Nice Georgian skin contact wine. Aromatics are very developed, and nice balance. Missing something on the back end though! Worth a try!

Umm kind of a disappointment to be honest. Flabby and overly natural this wine suffocated a good grape with its production, or more appropriately, lack thereof.

Thin skinned grapes make this orange wine less tannic than expected. Sour but remarkably fresh, this one had to grow on me. But once it did... Paired well with lamb ragu, as the vintner recommended!
