I Custodi Ætneus Etna Rosso Nerello Blend 2009

$37.99

Hailing from a 2ha plot of vines up to 150 years old on the northern slope of the volcano, Aetneus is 80% Nerello Mascalese, 10% Nerello Cappuccio, and 10% Alicante Bouschet grown at 750m elevation in sandy, mineral-rich volcanic soil. The unique Etnan signature of purity, rusticity, and polish all in balance is harmonious to say the least, managing to be both rawly pulled from the earth and lushly fruited at the same time. Winemaker Salvo Foti says that that “wine is a way that we connect, not just with nature but with everything," and this bottle couldn’t be a better conductor.

36 months in barrique, 36 months in the bottle, BOOM, light jammy dark fruits with rocky leather and refined tannins. Awesome.
