Franck Peillot Roussette du Bugey-Montagnieu Altesse 2014

9.14 ratings on Delectable
$22.99

Fifth-generation winemaker Franck Peillot is one of only two vignerons in the region still making varietal Altesse wines. His is piney and unctuous, with killer acidity.

Anthony Lombardi

Aromatically & texturally, this is evocative of Vouvray. The palate reminds me of a mineral & acid driven, tense Burgundy. What I realized is that better than comparing it to those other regions, the combined character makes for an excellent example of Savoie Altesse. The Savoie in general is a region I need to be drinking a lot more of.

Peppery and smoky, a nice higher-elevation wine with great character and medium body, almost reminiscent of a Chenin Blanc.
