Blind reaction: “I like it a lot, tastes like it’s from serious soils.” When Abe’s first remarks are about the soil, you can be sure the wine is a winner. The inside scoop: From a house famed for its Nebbiolo, Luigi Ferrando vinifies the region’s indigenous white grape – Erbaluce di Caluso – in the Champagne tradition. Precision, complexity and tradition all come through. With less than 200 cases made per year, this wine is both regal and rare. #sparklingadventures #seriousspumante

2009 Ferrando Erbaluce di Caluso Spumante "La Torrazza" - first time I've ever had the Erbaluce grape and this wine. - Dry, medium (-) body and acid, creamy carbonated bitter texture with unbalanced salinity and mineral components. Felt like a watered down "soda machine carbonated" apple martini. I dunno know... Despite some good recommendations... I still can't embrace it for $37 bucks a bottle. Not my jam.
