Domaine Roulot Clos des Bouchères Monopole Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2012

This is a rare wine. This is a great wine. This is the second vintage of Jean Marc Roulot's new monopole — Clos des Boucheres. Beautiful white fruit and flowers on the nose, lots of complexity, minerality and salinity, power and big, rich flavors and a very long finish. Very refined and detailed with real dynamic tension - nervoisite! A wine of exquisite balance that will age brilliantly.

Intrigued by the combination of reduction, white stone fruit, citrus blossom, and flint. Well done.

Reductive chard, I like it. No Shame here.

A whiff of burnt matches on the nose and piercingly clear dry chalky fruit. Very precise on the palate. Quite broad. Unclear quite how this will progress but very good.

The nose was stunning, showing wet slate, flint, smoke, and minerals up front with peach skin and hints of lemon zest. On the palate, it was still youthfully tight with a near perfect translation of rock and earth from nose to palate, along with saline-minerality and green apple. It finished long, spicy and with a zing of vibrant acidity.
