C.V.N.E. (Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España) Monopole Rioja Blanco Seco 2014

$13.99

One of the great traditional Rioja producers, this is done in a fresh, "drink me now" style that we find quite compelling. Great tapas juice.

No need to open a fino sherry and a dry white when an ideal hybrid is available. Craving this little gem all week.

Wild -- Viura with some Manzanilla sherry stirred in. Sherry notes come through along with round melony vibes. Cool weird wine, great w food.

Dried white flowers, green melon, with a slight sweet-tart note. Bright, acid driven, underripe pear and honey dew melon. Finish lingers and develops well. Great cooking wine while staying in Haro.

Crisp white with lots of flavor. Reminds me of a funky Chardonnay, but not a Chardonnay. Goes well with food.

Incredible. What a complex, layered, satisfying wine. I love the story, the history, and the fact that this style didn’t disappear. You first think the sherry dominates but the acid and fruit of the Vuira round out such a twisted fun wine with personality. Look forward to hanging on to a bottle of two.
