Claude Corbon Grand Cru Brut Blanc de Blancs Champagne 2004

$59.99

Elegant and classic Blancs de Blanc from some great parcels in Avize. 2004 is a great vintage in Champagne and this can be enjoyed now but will continue to improve in the cellar.

Non-battonage bottling. Love Corbon and want to keep it a secret... But I also love to sell it. This is the non-battonage bottling and as you would expect, it's leaner, tighter than the battonage. I like the extra richness of the battonage (the non-hipster version?) but that's just personal preference. Both wines are delicious and ridiculous value.

Rich brioche and lemon custard notes. Soft texture and tiny bubbles. A treat.

From Avize, Corbon's Grand Grand Cru Brut Millésimé 2004 has spent eight years aging on the lees. The color of spring daffodils, it’s equally vibrant and joyous with little in the way of coaxing (me swirling the glass) rich aromas of warm croissant, salt water taffy, roasted nuts, brown butter and dried apples unfurl in happy unison. A lovely, fine mousse leads into a wine that is equally endowed with weighty texture and crisp acidity. It ends on a clean, slightly chalky note.

Great find from Mission Wine in Alhambra, CA. One of the best blanc de blancs we've ever indulged in
