#Sangiovese #wine from the South East slope of #Montalcino. Warm brown color, with reddish brown center. Aromas for days with cherry cola, stewed cherry, kalamata olive, black olive, slightly seasones wood. Acid and tannin are harmonious, leveled and consistent.

Happy Wednesday. I have opened the 2011 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello de Montalcino. The nose is very pronounced with nice fruit notes of cherry, plum, raspberry, licorice and earthy notes. On the palate I have tart cherry, plum, red raspberry, ripe strawberry, spice, herb and dry soil. This wine has a full body that has very good balance - medium+ acidity and smooth medium + tannins. Nostrovia!

Garnet in color, with dried cherry, tobacco, violets, and leather on the nose. Classic in style. This was popped and poured, and would benefit from a few hour decant or a little more time laying down. Fresh, firm mouth feel with juicy tannin and a touch of heat on the midplalate. Finishes with mouth coating tannins, cherry pie, and baking spices. Delivers on the finish, and will show better in 5+ years on the nose.

Medium garnet in colour. Aromas of plum, blackberry and oak and hint of leather. Cloves and dried herbs. High acidity (but not too high), medium-plus tannin which softens with decanting, overall good harmony except a slightly too spicy gingerly finish.

Wow, so this is the 3rd bottle of this winery in a week or 2. I gotta say in terms of consistency--- this is now my #1 Brunello winery. The 2010 Pianrosso was probably one of the top 5 bottles of my life. The 2012 Brunello was awesome. Thus 2011 is awesome. Some tobacco and cedar, super chewy and round. I enjoyed it too much to take notes. 94 points
