Château Cantemerle Les Allées de Cantemerle Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

$23.99

Old-school claret lovers will tell you: Cantemerle is one of the Médoc’s best values. “Allees” is their delicious second wine, brimming with violets, smoke and cassis. Great vintage.

Good structure and could use a little more time (2010), but excellent value ($15 for half bottle)! Dark fruits and touches of oak.

Far from approachable at present. Certainly at a closed period in its life; you can sense the fruit lingering in there somewhere but for now it's barricaded in by a savoury, somewhat chewy, tannic defence. There's potential, but this doesn't seem to quite live up to the vintage's expectations, particularly where left-bank wines are concerned.

The 2010 that I had was really enjoyable. Blackberries, pepper, lavender and cedar with silky tannins. Elegant and balanced. Could probably use a bit more time but definitely more open and ready than some of the older comments on this vintage seem to suggest.

Not for me, not so smooth, low clarity and full of sediment

A truly elegant and rich 2010 Bordeaux with a firm structure that will mellow with age. This shows superb concentration of flavour, and is robust and complex on the palate. Highly recommended, especially if you can enjoy it with outstanding company, as I did!!

Fifth growth of haut-médoc. Gréât structure but need a bit more time. Black fruits, earthy.
