USA : CALIFORNIA : STA. RITA HILLSSUSTAINABLE : Pinot NoirMED-BODIED, DARK CHERRY, CRUSHED STONE, IRON, SAGE, NEUTRAL OAKRadian sits in the northern quadrant of the Sta. Rita Hills, nearly 700 feet up, thirteen miles from the Pacific — the site produces California’s most structurally serious Pinot Noirs, built from diatomaceous earth and Dijon clones driven by relentless marine wind. Winemaker Matt Dees calls it a chameleon: angular and nervy on release, deepening and softening across days two and three. The 2022 was drawn from four blocks and aged twelve months in 90% neutral French oak, bottled early to lock in energy. A cool spring reduced yields significantly; a late-August heat spike concentrated what remained. 614 cases total. Vinous 94 pts., Jeb Dunnuck 95 pts.PAIRINGS : Roasted duck breast dark cherry and sage carry through to classic duck reductions Mushroom risotto earthy minerality and umami run parallel to the diatomaceous earth character Herb-crusted rack of lamb juniper and sage in the wine align with the herb crust; tannins handle the fat

Solid bottle, was hoping for something a bit more. I still feel the Chardonnay and Pinot blends are better than single bottlings and for the price hard to beat.
