JAPAN : YAMANASHI : MINAMI ALPS Malted Barley (Peated) FULL-BODIED, GREEN APPLE, CAMPFIRE SMOKE, PINE, SOFT PEAT The Hakushu Distillery has been making single malt whisky in Japan's Southern Alps since 1973. At 800 meters above sea level, it's cooler, more remote, and built on a fundamentally different brief than Suntory's Yamazaki — same ownership, opposite climate, house style shaped by granite-filtered snowmelt and dense cedar forest. Where Yamazaki reaches for sherry richness, Hakushu stays lean, herbal, and mineral. The Peated Malt is part of Suntory's annual Tsukuriwake series — limited editions designed to isolate a single production variable and age it 18 years to see what it becomes. Bottled at 48%, this 2024 Edition opens on green apple and pine, moves through soft campfire and crushed herbs, and finishes with gentle woodsmoke and mossy minerality. The peat is present. It just doesn't announce itself. 96 Proof Please note: Spirits are only available for local delivery or in-store pickup. All orders for shipping will be cancelled immediately.
