Founded in 1986 by Josep-Maria Raventos, member of the Codorníu family, creating a small, quality-oriented winery standing apart from the large co-ops. A blend of 40% Xarel-lo, 36% Macabeu, 18% Parellada, 6% Monastrell. Red berry and floral aromas with fine bubbles. On the palate strawberry and cherry with mineral yeasty notes on the lingering finish, good balance. Hand harvested and secondary fermentation rests for 15 months before disgorgement. A nice bargain. Tasting Sample.

This energetic pink bubbly from one of Spain’s iconic producers displays intense red berry, blood orange and floral character with a mineral flourish. Chewy and tightly focused, the 2016 shows a refreshingly bitter edge on a dry, persistent finish that emphatically repeats the floral theme. $25.00 (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, October 2018)

Great rosé cava for the price. The half bottle is perfect as an aperitif ahead of switching to red or white for dinner. (Purchased at DFP at a tasting)

Not a lot of flavor. Very mild and mineral.

Always amazes me how Raventos makes good sparkling for such a small tag. Tastes like it looks. Strawberries and whipped cream hanging out for a while.

Some interesting fruit notes. Minerally. Good palate cleanser and QOR.

The most storied houses of Catalan often show the best value (opposite is the case in Champagne). It’s like they’ve been in the game long enough to know how to most efficiently make great sparkling wine. Raventos (like the Mure wines from Alsace) is one of these houses. Soft, fruity, and fine. Splash of Monastrell for nuance.
