ITALY : TUSCANY : SAN GIMIGNANO Vernaccia MED-BODIED, HAWTHORN, RIPE PEACH, CITRUS PEEL, MINERAL FINISH, NO OAK San Gimignano is a hilltop walled town in the province of Siena — medieval towers, saffron fields, and one of Italy's oldest winemaking traditions. Vernaccia di San Gimignano was the first Italian wine to earn DOC status in 1966, later elevated to DOCG, making it one of the most historically grounded white wine appellations in the country. Piccini has been making wine in Tuscany since 1882. Now in its fifth generation, the family produces across five estates under the philosophy "one vine, one territory." The 2024 vintage came in with bright aromatics, average acidity, and slightly lower alcohol than recent years — a fresher, earlier-drinking expression of the wine. PAIRINGS : Pasta alle vongole — mineral acidity and citrus brightness pull the brine in the right direction Grilled branzino — lean white-fleshed fish and mineral-driven Italian whites are a natural match Fritto misto — acidity and light body cut through oil and fried batter cleanly Courgette blossom or asparagus risotto — herbal notes in the wine echo the vegetables Fresh mozzarella di bufala with tomato — high acidity and light body, no competition with the dairy
