FRANCE : CHAMPAGNE : COTEAUX SUD D'EPERNAYBIODYNAMIC : Pinot Noir, Pinot MeunierMED-BODIED, DRIED PEAR, KIRSCH, MINERAL CHALK, PASTRY, NO OAKEqual parts Pinot Noir and Meunier from the Coteaux Sud d'Epernay and Vallée de la Marne — half of it reserve wine from prior vintages, aged in barrel, which is why this has depth that most non-vintage Champagne doesn't. No dosage: zero residual sugar, nothing softening the chalk. The wine tastes exactly like the terroir wants it to.Laherte Frères is a seventh-generation family estate in Chavot, biodynamically farmed since Aurélien Laherte took over in 2005. He co-founded the "Terres et Vins" collective with Bérèche, Agrapart, and Laval — names that have defined grower Champagne for the past decade. Vinous 92 pts.PAIRINGS : Oysters on the half shell zero dosage and chalk acidity cut brine cleanly; nothing sweetens the interference Duck confit Pinot Noir structure handles the fat a Blanc de Blancs wouldn't; the kirsch echoes dark meat Aged Comté autolytic brioche and mineral length are a natural foil for aged alpine cheese

What an interesting and delicious champagne. Oeil de Perdrix with a light copper color and intense perlage. The nose features an abundance of floral aromas and very fresh brioche. Plenty of red berries and herbal essences. A little strawberry and lemon zest, as well. Pinot Noir from the Marne Valley and Meunier from Côteaux sud d’Epernay with 50% reserve wines used. Typical Laherte, which is shorthand for excellent. Racy and exciting, this is a brilliant addition to their lineup. Zero dosage and intense with so much fruit going on. Chalky and refreshing, this is so very nice throughout. The palate follows the nose with more pronounced red fruit, yeast, and generally good vibes. I knew I was going to love this wine and then I ended up loving this wine. Some things are just a sure bet.
