ITALY : TRENTINO-ALTO ADIGE/SÜDITROL Lagrein FULL-BODIED, BLACK CHERRY, BLACKBERRY, VIOLET, LICORICE, LEATHER, SPICE, OAK Native to Alto Adige and one of the oldest documented varietals in the region, Lagrein (pronounced “Lah-grine”) is known for producing powerful, age worthy wines with deep coloring, muscular tannins, and a unique spicy/fruity/smoky flavor profile. By comparison, ‘Rubeno’ is unusually drinkable and delicious, with juicy black fruit and grippy but well-integrated tannins — a refreshingly accessible alternative to the more typical, highly-structured style, which often requires years in the bottle to open up. Fermentation in stainless steel; MLF & ageing in large oak casks for 6 months. PAIRING : Pizza Funghi e Salsiccia
