A little funkiness in this Morgon... blood orange grapefruit bite, rhubarb, and big-time Brett. If you like this style, this one has an amount of wet wool that doesn’t completely overpower the fruit. And after 90 minutes, some notes have blown off, but we are left with a little wet cardboard... so, corked. YMMV. Second bottle: same verdict. Avoid this wine.

Bananas and barnyard. Carbonic but structured.

So pleasant drinking this on a fall afternoon with friends! A little fuller-bodied than I anticipated but it otherwise had classic Beaujolais characteristics of juicy, overripe fruit. So glad I’ve gotten more into Gamay!!

First dinner out in three months, perfect on a beautiful June evening.

A nice addition to the Cru Beaujolais lineup. Not quite at the level of some of the stalwarts but would definitely buy again.

Wow! Lot more tannic than I was expecting for Beaujolais, but the 2017 harvest was apparently low yield, extremely ripe. This wine is savory; dried lavender and sage on the nose. Black pepper, and red ripe af strawberry preserves on the palate. The carbonic, angular structure gives a deep sultry finish and mineral snap that’s uncommon (at least in the limited experience I’ve had with his wines). I’m a big fan of this unusual profile and vintage. Most likely I will get another bottle to lay down and try again in a few years.
