ITALY : PIEDMONT : LANGHESUSTAINABLE : Nebbiolo, BarberaFULL-BODIED, RED CURRANT, DRIED ROSE, DARK PLUM, SMOKE, OAKSito Moresco takes its name from the Moresco family, who farmed the Pajorè parcel in Treiso before Gaja purchased it in 1979 — a quiet acknowledgment of what preceded them. The blend draws from vineyards in two DOCG zones: Treiso in Barbaresco and Serralunga d'Alba in Barolo, two sides of the Langhe's limestone-and-marl hills. Aged six to eight months in oak, it's built for earlier drinking than the estate's single-vineyard Barbarescos, but carries Nebbiolo's structural backbone throughout.2018 in Piedmont brought one third more rain than average — a difficult growing season that delivered elegant, accessible wines for producers who managed their yields carefully. Natalie MacLean scored it 93 points: "elegant and superbly made, smooth and juicy with ripe red currant, black currant, fine herb and spicy, smoky flavours."PAIRINGS : Braised short rib Nebbiolo's tannins and acidity are made for slow-cooked beef; smoke on the wine echoes the char Mushroom risotto dried rose and dark plum read cleanly against rice-forward umami — the classic Northern Italian pairing Aged Parmigiano-Reggiano salt and crystalline texture cut through the oak; the fruit holds up to concentrated savoriness

Dark cherries, plum and liquorice. Medium bodied, medium acidity, round tannins with a long finish . Still abit closed... Should open up really nicely in a few year’s time!

I must admit, I expected more from this wine. This is Gaja, the producer of outstanding brunello. But it's very good, at least. A cherry, smoke and leather. Spicy but short finish. Medium acidity.
