CALIFORNIA : SONOMA COUNTY : SONOMA COAST : FORT ROSS-SEAVIEW Cabernet Sauvignon
Tom Kobylarz
Sonoma Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, a rare wine to run across as this is Pinot Noir territory. I like the idea of it and while this is crafted well, raised well, it's a little lacking on the persistence on the finish. Definitely worth checking out, and keeping an eye on this up and coming producer. Currants, red cherry, cedar, pepper and spice, with fine and subtle tannin.

Friday lunch mystery wine. Could have easily mistaken for a coastal Syrah. Void of any green or under ripe notes. Very curious

Cool climate cabernet. Medium bodied and structured like a Monte Bello cab.

First time I’ve thought “refreshing” when drinking Cab. Cool climate / old world style melded to a smidge of Cali fruit.

Gave it a 2 hour wide decant and unlocked plenty of drinkability. Love the classic style, that still offers undertones of rich fruit. High but elegant acid, spice/vegetal, and unripened dark fruits. Wife goes for ripe fruity cabs but really enjoyed this with food.

A Cab from a Pinot District and it shows.... Red berries, tart plums, black cherries, and spice. This is peppery!

Medium bodied cab with lots of red fruits and a hint of pepper on the finish. Will hold my other couple of bottles for a few years before trying again.
