Splash decanted directly prior to service, the 2018 Morey Saint Denis pours a deep ruby with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose the wine is youthful with powerful notes of ripe and tart red fruits: red cherries, red brambles, red flowers, some herbs and a healthy dollop of warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and luxurious. A fairly flashy wine and, to my palate, the oak is showing prominently right now. Not out of balance, but close. The alcohol is up there…but it is pretty well disguised. Not wimpy, that’s for sure. While this is certainly full of energy and character right now, I think this wine would enjoy some time in the cellar to show even better. Drink from 2028 through 2043.

Très approchable encore, fruits noirs, vendanges entieres, bouche intense mais de belle texture non dénuee de fraîcheur. Meilleur rapport qualité prix chez Dujac de loin. Very nice dark fruits, whole clusters clearly, nice intensity and texture and some freshness, very approachable now.

Je sais que c’est jeune mais j’en ouvre une quand même pour me faire une idée. Petit coup de carafe, le nez peu jasant devient plus expressif sur les fruits noirs, une touche de conifères mais à peine, mais une bouche plus expressive et texturée, assez puissante et avec de la matière et du volume, mais sans excès et avec du beau fruit, assez long, au final on voit tout le potentiel, très bon maintenant. 90-91 Still very young but opening one anyway since this is a Villages wine I always love, a quick decant helps the nose to become more expressive with a dark fruit profile, the palate has great volume and texture, more expressive than the nose, medium to full bodied but nothing over the top either, the fruit is gorgeous and the wine is very approachable, nice delicious finish not too square for a young MSD, good right now, the potential is great. 90-91
