California : Central Coast : Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon FULL BODIED, RIPE RED FRUIT, SPICE, LUSH, CHOCOLATE, HERB, NEW OAK Lush, round, and ripe California Cabernet Sauvignon. Great concentration of ripe red fruits, plum, savory herbs, and spice. Balanced, yet warm with hints of dark chocolate and dried cherries. Smooth tannins; drinking fabulously now. Sustainable

Aged ten months in half French oak. Aromas are lovely and perfumed, blue and blackberry with Paso earth. The palate offers dark fruit with an earthy overlay, fabulous acidity and very firm tannins. It paired perfectly with lamb in a blueberry cab reduction with roasted veggies.

Drinkable but I don’t get what all the fuss is. People adore this wine; to me it’s nothing special. But the day is young!

With burgers. Good structure under that fruit without being a bomb or overly tannic.

In hills of Paso Robles, not far from Hearst castle, there is a man with a Homeric vision. His name is Daniel Daou and he is devoting his life to creating outstanding Cabernet’s. Deep red with dark berry nose, aged for 11 months on French oak (60% new). On the palate blackberry, black cherry and licorice, pepper spice with savory fine tannins. Medium+ finish ending with cacao and earthy herbs. Great value. The ‘17 is a bit richer than ‘16. Tasting Sample.

For $23 I can’t complain, but I’m not going to say I like it.

A nice velvety smooth Cab. Beautiful garnet color and from one of my favorite regions. Given to me as a gift by a friend.

The ‘17 vintage just came in. Seems way early. Anyway, exciting to try, and it already shows nicely. Cassis on the nose and nice texture. This will be a beautiful wine down the road.
