Château Moulin de Tricot Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

$48

France : Bordeaux : Margaux Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot FULL-BODIED, RAW EARTH, SAVORY, BLACK RASPBERRIES, SILKY, OAK This Bordeaux blend is a perfect pairing for any lover of “old world” style wines. The nose delicately perfumed atypical of similar blends from the area with notes of rose petals, violets, and earth. The palate is bursting with dark fruits, polished tannins, and lots of oak. Lotsa cellaring potential! Organic

A surprisingly dark and brooding color for such an approachable wine. The nose, right off the bat and sans decant is warm and lush; softly revealing cassis, a sort of black-leathery note, and what I can only describe as a classic “collage” of what I love so much about the wines from Margaux. The approach and palate, however, are the stars. Right out of the bottle- sans decant or even much time to breathe- this powerful 2015 is as gracious and well-expressed as anything from the region, from such a profound vintage, as I’ve ever had. It’s the fine and inviting tannins that do it. Simply put: this is as close to a California fruit-bomb as I’ve ever had from Margaux. Do NOT repeat this to anyone you may happen to know, that is French. The finish is where you find the grip, and it sticks around and reminds you of where it’s from for a truly delightful amount of sips. It’s not cheap- but damn if it won’t impress.

This is excellent, but on day one was much more brooding and heavy. After two days of air it was much more pretty. Cassis, a hint of cedar, cherry compote, fresh herbs, the finish is long and lovely. I just sat enjoying each sip.
