Nose has tangerine peel, raspberries, roses and under-ripe nectarine. Palate has candied orange, strawberry, orange pith/zest, mild acidity and lingering mineral notes to the medium finish. Blind, this is a Provence rose to me; nice effort in the cellar here. A steal of a deal when we got this for ~$14. 2018 Blend: 38.5% Grenache, 30.5% Grenache Blanc, 12.5% Carignane, 10% Cinsault, 6% Mourvedre, 2% Picpoul & 0.5% Vermentino

Pale salmon. Ripe red berries, pit fruit, watermelon rind, dried herbs. Very savory

Extremely pale pink. Incisive red berry and citrus pith qualities on the nose, along with suave floral, spice and mineral flourishes. Lithe and sharply focused on the palate, offering tangy strawberry, red currant and orange zest flavors and a touch of honeysuckle. Finishes dry and taut, with resonating florality and persistent red berry and mineral notes. This wine's blend of depth and finesse is pretty impressive, especially in light of its price. David Shaw

Everyone’s favorite wine from a vineyard visited by aliens, or was that balloonists? Yellow-salmon pink, excellent clarity. Strawberry note in nose. Strawberry followed by tart lemon flavors and minerality, slight skin astringency, dry. Banana-like aftertaste that evolves into lemon-grapefruit flavors. Sippable but plenty of acidity for food.

I cannot get enough word play. Especially as it pertains to wine, French Stuff, and outer space. Although I’d like Uranus jokes over UFO ones. That joke wrote itself only because I also adore alliteration. Ahem. Anyway this homage to Chateauneuf de Pape’s refusal to allow UFOs in its terroir (I don’t let them in mine either, honestly) is ever so transparent in what is in it, ever so zing pow wow, but shhhhhh chillout sweet babygirl that I am now a Bonny Doon convert. I wish I could say I was more than a half glass in writing this but you can blame to wordplay/slight tawdry-ness/silliness on...me. And the following tasting notes don’t do anything to actually explain this wine. Less than the prior paragraph anyway. But know it is more than the sum of its parts. But! If you want tech: Appearance: pale pink. Nose of red fruits of all types, Whole Foods bulk section and a new fountain perhaps in a cheeky avant- garde art garden. Tongue: dry, medium acid, medium alcohol (whoops it’s 13.5!) body is silky and neatly suede-y. You’ll taste bright underripe strawberries, overripe raspberries, maybe an iris or so and something mineral and also green let’s call it pussywillows just to keep me thematically on track. Finish is medium plus with a hint of candied fruit punch.

Cherry, lemon curd, peach, strawberry, cream, raspberry and limestone. Great acidity and balance.

Fresh peach, strawberry, and lemon curd. Medium minus acidity.

Lithe and intensely perfumed, this graceful California Rosé exhibits racy red berry and citrus fruit character, while showing surprising power given its light weight feel. Floral and mineral notes add complexity and drive a very long, sharply delineated finish. $16.00 (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2019)

The ‘18 Vin Gris de Cigare is very pale pink in the glass, quite lovely in fact. The nose shows red fruit and a light floral note with a savory mineral edge. The palate displays cherries and apples, with a very light and creamy mouthfeel, yet with a wonderful acidity.

Very enjoyable wine, but for me, rose has “jumped the shark”
