Oh yes I did! The 2016 pinks are in, so fire up the grill and break out the Burlotto Elatis Rosato from wild and wonderful winemaker Fabio Alessandria. Last year Fabio' importer told me "Sorry, it's on allocation. Not enough to go around." Having tasted Fabio' wine at a San Francisco restaurant last year and absolutely falling in love with it, I certainly understand why. This year I went direct for this glorious summer pink that always sells out fast. Deliciously refreshing, Fabio's rosato is a blend of Nebbiolo, Pelaverga and Barbera with bright fresh raspberries, cherries, a touch of strawberry on the finish. There's pleasingly bright acidity and soft minerality that goes well with grilled shrimp, pork sausages, roasted chicken, or enjoy it as an aperitif. I cook with it — meaning, the wine makes it into the cook, but not the food. ;-) I had reservations months in advance for several cases from Fabio Fans who buy this every year, and my shipment is limited.
