Sipping Fine Wine
Founded by Charles Palmer, an officer & a gentleman, also an aide-de-camp of the Prince of Wales, convinced by Marie de Gascq, a widow, to buy her estate. Intense fruit aromas of dark berries with a floral edge. A blend of Merlot-52%; Cab Sauv-42%; Petit Verdot-6%; shows cherry & blackberry fruit flavors with nutty vanilla spice. Tannins are well integrated, pack a punch, but needs more time. Nicely balanced with acidity, elegant quality, lingering ending with earthy mineral character! Very Nice

Monthly WTF guys blind tasting group. This month was our annual, and famed, Left Bank vs Right Bank theme. All wines served blind as usual. Started off with a Rosé and a champagne. Great night. Another very good wine. Super soft. Tastes more modern in style. Ripe. Mixed berry pie, chocolate covered cherry cordials and pipe tobacco notes. Balances fruit and savory notes. With an extended decant, this is very enjoyable now, but will get better. I called this ‘14 Left Bank. Thanks @Colby Siratt .

2nd wine done right. Lots of years in it still, but already drinking well and superb balance.

Wow. Killer second label. Chateau Palmer in the house. Muted nose, not unexpected, deep rich black fruit with cassis and currant. Whistle pepper rounds out this awesome Bordeaux. Tannins present and still need time Medium acidity and robust finish. Just amazing

I find this difficult to rate. Day one it was quite disjointed even after a couple of hours in the decanter. By day two, the flavours are stewed fruit, roasted coffee, oak, wet earth and tobacco with some aniseed on the finish. This is quite smooth and tannins are restrained with relatively low acidity. Nice deep red colour. Good, not great but perhaps that will change over time, scores are high but I’m not fully convinced.
