The nose is very harsh. With a strong earthiness and dirty socks. However the pairing with dates and lamb work well with the Lebanese origin.

One of the better bottles of 99 I’ve had. Gorgeous sweet cherry, leather, earth, and herbs. Fabulous finish.

Oh Chateau Musar how I love thee! This bottle has been open for two days and it still is bursting with all the flavors you remember and a few more! 1999 was the year that Lance Armstrong won his first Tour de France and SpongeBob made his debut. Predictably SpongeBob and this wine are still going strong!

Very pronounced brett and old saddle aromatics. Dusty gravel-like mouthfeel, wrapped in silky and rather sweet tannins. The acidity isn’t quite as present as more classic vintages. Perhaps not the most fine-tuned Musar red I’ve had but it’s immensely quirky, interesting and complex just as it is.

Blue fruit, gravel mid palate, light tannin. High pitched wine in need of further maturation.

Not at its best tonight, but for sure Musar in every detail. Plenty young this was much fruitier than I am used to from this wine. Good depth, excellent balance and oak integration. Wait another 3-5 years.
