My epiphany wine and always beautiful. However tonight, poured side by side with the Chappellet 69, GDL 70 and 72 Martha’s it was outclassed.

Grand vin

Leather, cedar, dirt, barnyard, horse sweat, pencil shavings, old car leather, musty. Sweet on the palate. Long length, fruit still youngish, light body.

Exquisite. Everything the fabled 1982 vintage should be. Beautiful garnet color. Cedar bark, menthol, fermented bilberry fruit on the nose. Palate shows earthen flavors balanced by supple fruit. Tannins are soft but acid is still there and the finish won’t quit for minutes. Drink now, but will still hold a few years.

Not much on the nose. Light bodied, light fruit, soft tannins. Not showing great length, body or complexity but still a damn fine classic Bordeaux.

Wine doesn't get much better than this. Black fruit, soft tannin, earthy notes of tobacco and leather, maybe even a touch of chocolate. Incredible.
