Signature notes of eucalyptus are just leaping out of the glass backed by cassis. Beautifully balanced.

Tasted blind. Deep purple. Opaque. Exotic nose with notes of eucalyptus, plum, spice and menthol. Ethereal. Rich in the mouth. Seemed old at first but with air this blossomed. Still young and vibrant. Really nice. Exotic. Guessed Heitz Martha Vineyards 70's.

This was supposed to be much better vibtage than the 98. But we found it to be much juicier and bright with less mid range than the 98. Martha's Vineyard is always exceptional and unmistakably Martha's. But probably wouldn't buy this vintage again. On the other hand I'd like to try it in 10 more years. This has a LOT of life left in it. It was still big and fruity. Really surprising.

Kinda weird showing on this. Nice bottle but not nearly as classy as the one I had a few years ago - and, bizarrely, quite a bit heavier and more monolithic. Very deep, dark black fruit here with a tarry grip - no sign at all of the silken personality my last one had, and practically at the whole other end of the spectrum in the pitch blackness of the fruit flavors. The other thing there was no sign of is the trademark Martha's mintiness. The fruit was so thick and primary there wasn't room for much else. Very surprised to see this if anything less developed than it was nine years ago.
