Black cherry and blackberry, good acidity, bitter tannin. Better day 2

McCarthy & Schiering, $15 Slightly sweet and juicy blackberry and blueberry notes on the nose, one of the best bouquets I've smelled in recent memory, reminds me of a delicious berry tart. After that it was a little underwhelming, a bit hot, the berries were subtle, and the classic Dolcetto bitter almond finish was a little too prominent. I also didn't get any almond, just a vague bitter tannic finish. Acidity was perfect though, gave it great freshness. I remember really enjoying it on day 1, but on day 2 when I wrote notes it seems not so much, maybe I was just having an off day.
