Marveling at the end of the Butt. Chalky fresh and complex.

A touch of green pepper on the nose and on the palate it comes through almost like celery leaf. I smell a bit of lemon too and wet stones. The palate is a little unbeautiful I suppose but the finish is nice, dashi-esque. Leaner than the 09 MDT. Definitely more successful without food, I think. I would expect this wine, from another producer, would have more body and profile, but I must say I’m at least less disappointed than I expected to be!

Hey I'm actually impressed here! This tastes like nicely maturing 1er. Smelled like Greek yogurt for a second on opening and I worried so, but listen, we all smell a lot of things when we pull a cork, no?

Decent enough but a bit clipped and short in the mouth. Maybe some storage issues here, this felt a little disjointed. Not bad, just lacking some distinctiveness.

Hard to choose between this and Vaillons. I would say this is exhibiting a little more freshness and verve while also holding a nice tropical width (more pear than apple). Happy to have 7 more and will certainly let some linger beyond the Vaillons lifespan, I expect
