Dark inky color with a purplish rim. Fruity nose with chocolates, cola, and cedar notes. Full bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate and elegant. Showing blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, dried figs, cola, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, light earth, herbs, tobacco leaf and peppercorn. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This 10-year-old is drinking beautifully now. Rich and fruit forward with nice balance and complexity. Delicious right now, and at its peak. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $50.

This Cabernet Sauvignon from Columbia Valley is delicious and drinking very nicely now. Dry and very fruity on the palate. Full bodied with medium acidity. Showing black fruits with chocolate notes, tobacco, coffee, peppercorn, cedar, leather, vanilla, earth and light vinaigrette. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. Good right out of the bottle and better after 20 minutes. Easy drinking, fruit-forward and good by itself as a sipping wine. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. I had it a year ago, and it is still drinking very nicely, although it doesn't need that long to open up. Drink in the next 5 years. This 7 year old still has a nice grip. Very tasty with good structure. A blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a touch of Syrah. 14.5% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $55.

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a beautiful one from Washington State. Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Light nose with blueberries, black plums, black cherries, light vanilla, licorice, oak, spices, coke, light vegetables and black pepper. Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs. Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, black cherries, cedar, leather, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates tobacco, mocha, coke, vegetables, pencil lead and peppercorn. Long long finish with round tannins and cherries. This is a great Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and tasty. Good right out of the bottle, but much better after 3 hours of airtime, when the tannins, and more complexity come out. Will drink nicely in the next 5 to 10 years. Wine Advocate 92 points. A good wine to drink all by itself and talk about with friends. This 6 years old is spicy, rich and smooth. Delicious. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 2% Syrah. Aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (35% new). 14.5% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $55.

A bold, full bodied wine with a fairly dry finish, and no shame. The flavor is improved many times after it opens up.
